Thomas R. Slaten, Jr.

Shareholder, Managing Attorney

 

 

Mr. Slaten is an attorney and managing shareholder of Larsen Slaten. Since 2003 Tom Slaten has exclusively represented homeowners’ and condominium associations. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1994. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1995 and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for both the Middle District of Florida and the Southern District of Florida.

 

Mr. Slaten is certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to teach courses in community association law. He regularly teaches board member certification courses and legal update classes. He is a regular speaker at Community Associations Institutes’ Central Florida Chapter programs as well as a past director. Thomas Slaten currently serves on the Florida Legislative Alliance, which advocates for improvements in laws governing community associations.

 

Mr. Slaten began his legal career as a prosecutor with the State Attorney’s Office in Ft. Myers, Florida. Subsequent to his position as an Assistant State Attorney, he served as a Civil Litigator practicing in areas of insurance and commercial law. He has concentrated his practice in the area of community association law since joining the firm, as his experience includes both the presentation and formation of community associations. Thomas Slaten recently served as a Board Member of the Community Association Institute (“CAI”), Mid-Florida Chapter.

Mr. Slaten has substantial instructional experience and is a frequent speaker on Association related topics; he teaches certified continuing education courses for Florida Community Association Managers and board members.
